- Originally named Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the Barbadian recording artist and actress started her music career started in July 2005 when performing at ‘Roc La Familia’ in Toronto. The event host Jay-Z soon became her mentor and signed her to his label ‘Def Jam’

- She releases her debut album in 2005 – ‘Music of the Sun’ reached the top ten of the ‘Billboard 200 Chart’ and within a year, she released a second studio album ‘A Girl Like Me’ in 2006. This became a sensation, hitting the top-five in the US and this was followed up wither producing her first ‘Hot 100’ number one single ‘SOS’

- 2007 saw the release of her third album: ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’, with international hit singles such as: ‘Umbrella’, ‘Take a Bow’ and ‘Disturbia’. This album received nine Grammy Award nominations, with ‘Umbrella’ winning ‘Best Rap/Sung Collaboration’
