o 360 degree model

          - This deal implies that the music label has contractual power to manage – and earn from – the artist’s various forms of income
         - All the income that the artist generates – whether through performances, recordings, merchandise, sponsorships or endorsements – are shared
         - The three roles of label, publisher and management responsibilities are merged into one – the companies become independent
         - Different from the old model – artists would have separate agreements with different record companies, live agents, promoters and publishers. They also get paid by each one.
         - This deal can help to maximise income through other forms than just recordings, where it faces widespread piracy. Digital copies of songs have already been lowered to cheap rates in hope of resolving the issue – but this only generates little revenue
         - A step towards transforming a traditional record label to an entertainment company

KOREAN MUSIC INDUSTRY

- Hallyu Wave – refers to the rapid increase in popularity of South Korean entertainment and culture in Asia and now globally – since the 1990s

- This rapidly growing industry is becoming a global sensation. After tackling extreme piracy that nearly left their music industry bankrupt, they changed the industry completely after introducing an anti-piracy legislation and tapping into the 360 degree model way before other major labels did.
