LIGHTING

This is a simple lighting plan, where spotlight are placed in corners, flanking the intended camera position. They are usually adjusted to a narrow beam, aiming in a crossing pattern at opposite corners as they light as to cover some distance. This links back to the inverse square law – unfocused light decreases in power with the square of distance from light, often resulting in dark backgrounds and overly bright foreground subjects.

The minimal spread of light through a spotlight and the aiming of them at corners minimises the loss of light with distance and the amount of light striking foreground subjects.

Back Cross-Lighting works the same way apart from that both lights are positioned behind the subject with a fill light at the front to illuminate details/features.

I may use this lighting technique, and so therefore will need two strobe-like lights. The fluorescent lights illuminate too large an area and so would not create the effect I am looking for. I have one rechargeable torch that works a charm, similar to a strobe light with its narrow beams but I will need to find another similar light source or an alternative.

Along with the LED fill light, the lighting of the shots should be fine, with the rain being illuminated from the background whilst the LED lights the face.

Cross (Key) Lighting

These are the lights (or similar) that I will be using for the shoot. 2 one million candle power torches, one 160 LED light and I may or may not use the fluorescent light as it may not be necessary.
