Album covers are also important as they attract people and increase sales as they sit on shelves in stores.
MIKA’s album covers are colourful and bright, with fun filled patterns and designs. These would instantly capture a passer –by’s attention as it stands out from other plainer covers.

When designing an album cover, details have to be considered such as the colour scheme, the simplicity/complexity and whether to use logos or the artist’s face, or both.

A range of covers can be seen here, those with faces, cartoons, landscapes and just simply logos. They all produce different effects depending on the image used, such as a dark solemn image from Adele’s monochrome cover and a fun, lively effect from the Gorrillaz.
The use of many different colours are suggestive of the album's genre - fun, upbeat tracks would be expected with fast tempos and possibly even a touch of hippie styled music.
