Many events – most notably flash mobs – are organised through the power of social networking sites, with friends sharing information with others and spreading across millions of users. There are even pages for concerts and gigs and musical events across the country that informs participants with the most up to date news and most importantly, to publicise and promote the artist.
Such as here, the BIGBANG Alive Tour even page has been established so all concert-goers can receive instant updates and changes, but also see who is going.
On these pages, there is an option to ‘invite’ people or ‘join’ the event and this helps to spread the news of the musical event, in turn promoting the artist.

Flash mobs are becoming increasingly popular amongst the younger audiences as it allows them to have fun whilst meeting like-minded people. These are easily organised through social networking sites, Facebook being the most common.
For example, this UK Gangnam Style flash mob at the MCM Expo was organised by a Facebook user. Through the means of sharing and promoting, there were a number of over a thousand people attending. This is just an example of the power that these social networking sites and the internet hold and why artists nowadays need to be on these sites to be involved with their audiences and to engage and promote themselves.
