Some artists keep blogs and such to market the image of the artist. For American celebrities, most use Twitter and the common social networking sites to post and keep their fans updated. In Asia, there are other sites such as ‘weibo’ and mobile phone subscriptions to view updates from their idols.

Whether the artist themselves write the posts is questionable, but occasionally, it is done solely for marketing purposes as things they post can create specific images of the artist, such as the artist getting on well with other artists or attending charity events, portraying the artist in a positive, giving light.

Radio interviews are another common form of promotion before the release of an album.

The artist would appear as a guest on hit radio shows such as BBC Radio and Heart fm. Usually, timing and schedules are worked out so certain celebrities would appear at specific times depending on the social demographics of people that tune in at different times.

Guest appearances of television shows are another major marketing activity. Especially on music shows such as ‘X Factor’, celebrities gain a lot of publicity as they receive air time during a show watched by millions across the country.
