I also used the popular style of a narrative and performance based music video as this avoids repetitive shots, displays diversity and creates a more interesting watch as the storyline engages audiences, also familiarising audiences with the artists’ star image.

The conventional costume ideas for pop videos being mainstream, fashionable and trendy were applied to the concept of my video. However, due to budget restrictions, I could not purchase custom made, more extreme costumes such as Lady GaGa’s, so I used accessories to upgrade the standard fashionable look to a professional level.

The fact that the song was about death meant that there was not as great a need to use fancy costumes as seen in videos such as BIGBANGs’. I kept the clothing simple to reflect the tone and theme of the song in the video.

The dark shades were not only used to fit in with the tone but also to sell a cool, bold image of the artists as darker colours often have associations with mystery and the unknown. The stylishly collared leather jacket Han Kim wears is similar to those worn by Korean celebrities as it portrays the artists in a trendy, wealthy and edgy light, created by the sharp corners of the collar and often added accessories such as chains – as seen here with BTOB’s statement jewellery and BAP’s simple but effective chain.
