- Intertextuality (films, TV, other music videos)

o G-Dragon ‘Crayon’ (2012)
o Reference to ‘Pinocchio’ – a well-known fairy tale, creating a comedic touch.
o This scene is shown whilst G-Dragon says: ‘Hey lady, hey lady, I’m the innocent Ji Yong’ referring to his original name of Kwon Ji Yong. This adds to the confident, cheeky image that he has in the music video. Everyone knows, Pinocchio’s nose grows when he lies – whether they know the full story or not. Here, his nose grows when he says he is ‘innocent’, and this is evidently not true as the two females move their bodies at the back and he casts a sly smirk at the end of the cut. This child-like, cheeky image helps to emphasise the general public image of GD – being an artist, recognised for his wackiness and bad boy look.
Intertextuality is often used to make or emphasise a point in a humorous sense.
