HISTORY 

1960s

o ‘rock’ films – such as ‘Battle of the Mods’ (1966), exploring topics such as gang  

   culture and crime 

o Artists made little films
o Drug influenced due to the rise in use of illegal drugs such as cannabis and LSD and these affected both artist and 
listener

       - Out of this, new genres such as acid rock and psychedelic rock emerged
o ‘The Beatles’, ‘Bob Dylan’ – rise in popularity
o Recordings of live performances emerged
o Choreography introduced
       - ‘Pan People’ – first group to dance 
       - This has progressed to what we see in modern day videos, with the artist being 
surrounded by dancers and often even dancing as well to show diversity and talent

o Often regarded as a period of musical revolution and time of freedom
