Tilts is another common shot used in pop videos and also R&B videos. Although more commonly used on women to emphasise their sexy image – following one of Goodwin’s six points – the notion of looking – it is occasionally used on males (tilt from bottom to top) to create a cool and appealing image.
I have used tilts in my video for different reasons, not only to focus on the star image. Tilts from the top to bottom are used as both characters are seen dropping to the ground against the wall portraying weakness and frailty compared to the more common use of tilts.
Another tilt from the bottom to the top is also used as Mikael (Dzung) looks, tired from the running and is in despair. The low angle emphasises how insignificant and small he feels in comparison to everything as he searches for his friend, once again challenging the common use of tilts.
